The Arkansas Insurance Department (AID) has released Bulletin No. 3-2025, detailing the procedures and deadlines for company appointment renewals. Key Updates for 2025 Company Appointment Renewals:

• Annual Review Requirement: Insurance companies must review their appointed Arkansas producers and business entities before deciding on renewals. Appointments remain active until formally terminated.
• License Lapse Considerations: Producers who allow their licenses to lapse have up to 12 months to reinstate them by paying a penalty. However, their appointments will not be automatically reinstated.
• Separate Appointments for Agencies & Producers: The SBS system now requires direct appointments for agencies and individual producers. Companies should verify both using the SBS Licensee Lookup or NAIC Producer Database (PDB).
• Electronic Renewal Process: All appointment renewals must be processed via NIPR.com (Company Appointment Renewals User Agreement). No paper checks will be accepted, and failure to renew on time may result in penalties up to double the renewal fee.

Important Deadlines:

• May 24, 2025: Last day to process terminations for appointments that will not be renewed.
• June 1, 2025: NIPR opens the appointment renewal process at 8:00 AM CST.
• June 30, 2025: Final deadline for appointment renewals. The system will close at 4:00 PM CST. Late renewals may be subject to additional penalties.

Steps to Complete the Renewal Process:

• Review Active Appointments: Use the SBS Lookup Tool or NAIC PDB to verify active appointments.
• Decide on Renewals & Terminations: Terminate any unwanted appointments by May 24, 2025, via NIPR.com.
• Process Renewals Online: Submit renewals electronically through NIPR.com between June 1 and June 30, 2025.
• Ensure Payment Compliance: Use a credit card, electronic check, or electronic funds transfer. Paper checks will not be accepted.
• Address Special Cases: If electronic renewal is not possible, contact the Arkansas Insurance Department License Division after June 1, 2025.
