Continuing Education (CE)
CE requirements:
- 24 hours of CE (including 3 hours of ethics) for Life, Accident/Health, and Property and/or Casualty lines every 2 years.
- Non-Resident Producers must complete 4 D.C.-specific CE credit hours.

FAQs
When do I need to renew my Washington D.C. insurance license?
Individual licenses in Washington D.C. require renewal and completion of CE every 2 years on the last day of the licensee’s birth month. Business entities renew every 2 years by May 31st. Renewals are possible up to 90 days before the expiration date.
What if I miss the Washington D.C. insurance license renewal deadline?
The District of Columbia offers a one-month late renewal period for the license, with payment of double the renewal fee. Reinstatements are possible after the late renewal period for up to one year after the license expiration date. After one year, the licensee must reapply as a new applicant.
