New Mexico 2026 Appointment Renewals: Key Dates and Requirements for Carriers
New Mexico’s 2026 appointment renewal cycle will soon open, and carriers are encouraged to review their active producer and limited surety appointments ahead of time. The renewal window will be available electronically through NIPR from January 5 to April 30, 2026. To avoid unwanted renewal charges, companies must terminate inactive or unnecessary appointments by December 26, 2025. This update outlines important renewal timelines, fees, and payment details to help carriers stay organized and maintain active appointments for the 2026 cycle.
Key Renewal Dates and Deadlines
The renewal process officially opens at 8:00 AM CST on January 5, 2026, and closes at 4:00 PM CST on April 30, 2026. Carriers should carefully review their appointment lists and submit terminations no later than December 26, 2025. Any active appointments remaining on record after December 27, 2025, will be automatically invoiced for renewal. New appointments made after that date will be included in the 2026 cycle.
Electronic Renewal Requirements
As with other states, New Mexico requires electronic appointment renewals through NIPR. Payments cannot be made directly to the state. Once processed, NIPR will transmit renewal data and payments to the state within 24 hours. Carriers can view invoices and track payment confirmations directly through the NIPR website until the close of the renewal window.
Renewal Fees and Payment Options
Each appointment renewal will incur a $20 state fee per appointment. NIPR’s processing fee is one percent of the total state fee, with a $5 minimum and $1,000 maximum. Payment can be made by credit card or electronic check, though large invoices exceeding $60,000 must use an alternative method. For electronic check payments, carriers should ensure pre-authorization with their financial institution to avoid delays or returned payment fees.
Recommended Preparation Steps for Carriers
Carriers should begin reviewing appointment rosters at least 60 days before the termination deadline. Identify inactive producers or those no longer representing your company to prevent unnecessary renewal fees. Schedule internal reporting and coordinate with your licensing team to verify all active appointments are accurate and current before renewals begin.
Summary
The 2026 New Mexico appointment renewal period gives carriers a clear opportunity to maintain accurate records and avoid paying for outdated appointments. With electronic renewals managed entirely through NIPR, preparation and timely terminations are key. Mark your calendar for December 26, 2025, and take proactive steps to ensure a smooth renewal cycle for 2026.
