New Jersey 2026 Company Appointment Renewal Cycle: Key Dates and Requirements
Insurance Licensing Administrator
The New Jersey Department of Insurance has released official guidance for the 2026 Company Appointment Renewal cycle. All renewal processing must be completed electronically through NIPR between April 1 and June 3, 2026. Carriers should reconcile active appointments prior to March 25, 2026, as invoices will reflect all active individual appointments on record as of March 26. This renewal period includes mandatory electronic payment requirements, strict termination deadlines, and non-refundable processing fees. Early preparation and reconciliation are critical to avoid billing discrepancies.
Renewal Timeline and Critical Deadlines
The 2026 New Jersey Company Appointment Renewal period officially opens April 1, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. CST and closes June 3, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. CST. There is no late renewal period.
Carriers must process terminations for appointments that should not be renewed no later than March 25, 2026. Active individual appointments on record as of March 26, 2026, will be included on the renewal invoice.
Appointments submitted on or after March 26, 2026, will not require renewal for the current year and will instead be included in the 2027 renewal cycle. All renewed appointments will receive a new expiration date of May 1, 2027.
Mandatory Electronic Processing Through NIPR
The New Jersey Department of Insurance requires all appointment renewals to be processed electronically through NIPR. Continuation invoices cannot be paid directly to the state.
Beginning April 1, renewal invoices and detailed appointment lists will be available via the NIPR website. Once payment is received, NIPR will display the invoice as paid and forward renewal transactions and payment to the state within 24 hours.
Appointment renewal state fees are $25 per appointment. In addition, NIPR will apply a renewal processing fee equal to one percent of the total state fee, with a minimum of $5 and a maximum of $1,000. These fees are non-refundable.
Payment Options and Processing Limits
Carriers may pay renewal invoices using credit card or electronic check, subject to specific limitations.
Credit card payments (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express) are processed electronically, with a maximum transaction limit of $60,000. Invoices exceeding this threshold must use an alternative payment method.
Electronic check payments may require prior authorization from the carrier’s financial institution. Electronic checks over $999,999 cannot be submitted through NIPR and must be mailed directly to the state. Funds must be drawn from a U.S., Puerto Rican, or U.S. Virgin Islands financial institution.
Carriers using electronic check payments should note the required ACH authorization reference: NIPR ACH – 9431763793. Returned electronic checks will incur a $25 charge, and unresolved payment issues may result in non-renewal or reversal of appointments.
Reconciliation and Reporting Best Practices
Insurance carriers with a NAIC Company Code can obtain a Company Appointment Report (CAR) to review current appointments on file with the state insurance division prior to invoice generation. Proactive reconciliation allows carriers to identify discrepancies and process necessary terminations before the March 25 deadline.
Terminations can be completed through the Interactive Appointment and Termination Application, available to NIPR subscribers. Carriers not currently subscribed should confirm their subscription status with NIPR’s business development team to ensure access to reconciliation tools.
If an invoice appears inaccurate, carriers should contact NIPR Support before submitting payment to resolve discrepancies.
Summary
The New Jersey 2026 Company Appointment Renewal cycle requires timely action, accurate reconciliation, and mandatory electronic processing through NIPR. With strict termination deadlines, non-refundable processing fees, and no late renewal window, carriers must prepare in advance. Reviewing appointment records, confirming subscription access, and planning payment logistics will help ensure a smooth and compliant renewal process.
