The Nebraska Department of Insurance has announced the 2026 producer appointment renewal schedule. Carriers must renew applicable producer appointments electronically through the NIPR Producer Database between May 1 and July 31, 2026. Companies should review their appointment records early, as termination requests for appointments that will not be renewed must be submitted before April 24, 2026. With non-refundable renewal fees and strict processing requirements, carriers should verify appointment lists, resolve disputes in advance, and prepare internal workflows to ensure timely and accurate renewal submissions.
Termination Deadline: April 24, 2026 (by 3:00 PM Central Time)
Invoice Date: May 1, 2026
Renewal Period: May 1, 2026 – July 31, 2026
Renewal invoices will remain available through the NIPR system until 4:00 PM on July 31, 2026.
Carriers should review appointment lists early to determine which producers should remain appointed and which appointments should be terminated before the renewal invoice is generated.
Termination Requests Must Be Submitted in Advance
Appointments that will not be renewed must be terminated before 3:00 PM on April 24, 2026. Once renewal invoices and appointment lists are generated, companies will no longer be able to terminate appointments included on the invoice.
Additionally:
Appointments added on or after April 24, 2026, will not need to be renewed for the current year.
Any disputes related to appointments must be resolved at least 15 days before invoices are posted.
Taking time to verify records before the invoice date can help companies avoid paying renewal fees for appointments that are no longer needed.
Renewals Must Be Processed Through NIPR
All appointment renewals must be processed electronically through the NIPR Producer Database (PDB). Renewal invoices cannot be paid directly to the Nebraska Department of Insurance.
Once payment is processed through NIPR:
The invoice will immediately reflect as paid
NIPR will forward the payment and renewal transaction to the state within 24 hours
Carriers can also use the NIPR system to generate reports, review appointment lists, and manage renewal records.
Renewal Fees and Processing Costs
State renewal fees are assessed per appointment and vary by jurisdiction. While Nebraska coordinates the renewal process through NIPR, the applicable appointment renewal fees depend on the state in which the producer appointment exists.

Minimum fee: $5
Maximum fee: $1,000
All renewal payments and processing fees are non-refundable, so companies should verify invoice accuracy before submitting payment.
Payment Options and Limits
Payments must be made electronically through the NIPR system using one of the following methods:
Credit card
Electronic check (ACH)
Companies should note that credit card transactions are limited to $60,000 per payment. If an invoice exceeds that amount, an alternative payment method must be used.
Electronic checks do not carry additional check fees, though NIPR processing fees still apply.
What Happens If Renewals Are Missed
Failure to remit renewal payments by the required deadline may result in termination of the affected appointments.
If an appointment terminates due to non-payment, the company must submit a new appointment request for each producer they wish to reappoint. This can create additional administrative work and may delay a producer’s ability to conduct business under that appointment.
What Carriers Should Do Now
Insurance companies should begin preparing for the upcoming renewal cycle by:
Reviewing current producer appointment records
Identifying appointments that should be terminated before the deadline
Resolving any disputes with the Nebraska Department of Insurance
Preparing internal payment approvals for renewal invoices
Taking proactive steps now can help avoid unnecessary renewal fees and ensure a smooth renewal process once invoices become available.
Summary
The Nebraska Department of Insurance’s 2026 appointment renewal cycle introduces several important deadlines that carriers must manage carefully. With termination requests due in April and the renewal period opening May 1, companies should review appointment records early to ensure invoices accurately reflect their active producer relationships.
