Kentucky 2026 Appointment Renewals: Key Dates, Late Fees, and Deadlines
The Kentucky Department of Insurance has announced the 2026 appointment renewal schedule, outlining important timelines and fee structures for both resident and non-resident license holders. Renewal invoices will be available via NIPR beginning January 7, 2026, and must be paid in full by March 31, 2026, to avoid doubled renewal fees. Companies should submit all appointment terminations by December 31, 2025, before invoices are created. Payments are electronic only, and all renewals are processed through NIPR to ensure compliance.
Renewal Period and Termination Deadline
The Kentucky appointment renewal period begins January 7, 2026, at 9:00 AM Central Time and ends March 31, 2026, at 4:00 PM Central Time. Companies that wish to terminate producer appointments before renewal billing must submit termination notices to NIPR no later than 10:59 PM Central Time on December 31, 2025. Any appointment active as of January 1, 2026, will automatically be included on the renewal invoice.
Late Renewal Period and Fees
Kentucky offers a late renewal period from April 1 through June 30, 2026, with fees doubled pursuant to state law.
Individual resident producers: $80
Resident business entities/agencies: $200
Non-resident individual producers: $100
Non-resident business entities/agencies: $240
Invoices must be paid in full by 4:00 PM Central Time on June 30, 2026, to prevent automatic termination of appointments.
Mandatory Electronic Processing Through NIPR
All renewals must be processed electronically through NIPR. Invoices cannot be paid directly to the Kentucky Department of Insurance. NIPR will forward payment and renewal transactions to the state within 24 hours. Companies should verify invoice accuracy prior to submission, as all renewal and processing fees are non-refundable. If discrepancies are found, contact NIPR Support at support@nipr.com before paying.
Payment Methods and Additional Guidelines
NIPR’s renewal processing fee equals 1% of total state fees, with a $5 minimum and $1,000 maximum.
Credit Card Payments: Visa, MasterCard, or American Express are accepted up to $60,000. Larger invoices must use another payment method.
Electronic Checks: Must be drawn from a U.S., Puerto Rican, or U.S. Virgin Islands bank. Returned checks incur a $25 fee and may result in non-renewal.
Invoices over $999,999: Payments must be made directly to the Kentucky Department of Insurance. Checks should be payable to KY State Treasurer and mailed with a copy of the invoice to:

The Kentucky Department of Insurance emphasizes timely renewal management to avoid compliance lapses and unnecessary late fees. Termination requests must be submitted by December 31, 2025, and renewal invoices paid by March 31, 2026. Late renewals through June 30, 2026, will be billed at double the standard rate.
