Licensees must complete a total of 24 hours of continuing education every two years.
Renewal occurs biennially, every two years.
Continuing education is due before the license renewal date.
The license renewal date falls on the first day of the licensee's birth month
Renewal year is based on the year of birth.
CE is due on the first day of the licensee's birth month, biennially. Producer licenses are perpetual and remain in good standing as long as CE requirements are met.
Licensees whose first renewal date is within 12 months of their initial license do not require CE in the first renewal cycle. Limited and surplus lines licensees holding only specific lines are exempt from CE.
If the renewal date is missed, the license will be suspended for 90 days or until the 24-hour CE requirement is met. During this period, licensees may continue to serve existing clients but cannot solicit new business. After the 90-day period, licensees have the remainder of the year to fulfill CE requirements and apply for license reinstatement with a late fee. After 12 months, reapplication for a new license is necessary.
Three hours of ethics training are mandatory.

Initial certification requires an 8-hour course, followed by 4 hours of LTC-specific training every two years.
