Continuing Education (CE) Insurance Licensing Requirements in Ohio
CE requirements include 24 hours biennially including:
- 3 hours in ethics
- 21 hours in P&C lines
Exemptions: Non-resident agents completing CE in their resident states are exempt.

When do I need to renew my Ohio producer license?
Licenses require renewal every 2 years before the last day of the licensee’s birth month. Renew your license anytime from 90 days before the expiration date until the last day of your birth month.
What if I miss the Ohio producer license renewal deadline?
If a licensee fails to complete CE requirements, a one-month grace period begins, during which renewals are possible after paying a late fee ($50). If you fail to renew within the grace period, a $100 late fee applies, and your license will be suspended. A license can be reinstated for up to one year. After one year, the licensee must apply as a new applicant.
