Yes, you must have either a SSN (Social Security Number) or a FEIN (Federal Employer Identification Number).

Do I need to complete fingerprinting as part of the application process?

No, fingerprinting is NOT required.

How to Apply for and Renew a Producer License in New Hampshire

Applying for a New Producer License in New Hampshire

The New Hampshire Insurance Department is the primary portal for viewing licensing information and compliance requirements.  

Renewing a Producer License in New Hampshire

Licenses require renewal every 2 years on the last day of the licensee’s birth month. License renewals are possible up to 90 days before the expiration.

Non-Resident Producer Licensing in New Hampshire

Provide license number or National Producer Number (from the licensed resident state) or Social Security Number (first-time applicants) or FEIN (Federal Employer Identification Number).

New Hampshire Business Entity Insurance License Applications

Provide at least one individual Owners, Officers, Partners, or Directors (OPOD) entry listed as an owner or officer.

Non-refundable licensing fees apply throughout the licensing process for appointments, exams, and other services as follows.

Continuing Education (CE)

Fees and requirements may change at any time without prior notice. For the most accurate and up-to-date details, we recommend verifying fees through the New Hampshire Insurance Department directly. 

  • 24 hours for life, accident and health, property, casualty, or personal lines 
  • 3 hours ethics 
  • FEMA Flood Insurance Training (mandatory) 

Deadline: Complete CE by the end of the birth month following the second license anniversary and biennially thereafter. CE must be completed 60 days before the license expires.

FAQs

Licenses are perpetual but require renewal and completion of CE every two years on the last day of your birth month. Complete CE at least 60 days prior to the expiration date. Renew your license anytime from 90 days before the expiration date.

If a licensee fails to complete CE requirements a late CE completion fee of $50 applies. If a licensee fails to renew before the expiration date, the license and all appointments will be cancelled. Reinstatement is possible for up to 2 years after paying a $300 fee. After 2 years, the licensee must apply as a new applicant and retake the exams
