Continuing Education (CE)
CE requirements include 24 hours biennially:
- 24 hours of CE (including 3 hours of ethics) every 2 years for Accident & Health, Life, Property, Casualty, Personal Lines, and Variable Annuities.

Exemptions: Limited Life, Turkey, Crop & Hail, Travel, Accident & Baggage, Title, Credit Products, and Limited Lines Property & Casualty are exempt from CE. Severe hardship exemptions exist for licensees whose license lapses during terminal illness or active military service.
FAQs
When do I need to renew my Michigan insurance license?
Licenses are perpetual but require completion of CE every two years. You can find your CE renewal date printed in the lower left-hand corner of your license.
What if I miss the Michigan insurance license renewal deadline?
If a licensee fails to complete CE requirements, the license will be suspended for 90 days or until the requirement is met. After 90 days, license qualifications are terminated, and the license will have to be reinstated. A license can be reinstated for up to one year. After one year, the licensee must apply as a new applicant.
