Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years old.

Yes, you must have either a SSN (Social Security Number) or a FEIN (Federal Employer Identification Number).

Licensing fees for initial licenses, renewals, exams, and other services are as follows.

Continuing Education (CE)

CE requirements for insurance producers include:  

  • 24 hours of CE (including 3 hours of ethics) for Life, Accident & Health, Property, Casualty, Personal Lines, and Surety every 2 years. Long-term care, Flood insurance, and Annuities have line-specific training requirements.

Deadline: Renewals are due every 2 years on the last day of the licensee’s birth month. Complete CE at least 30 days before the license expires to avoid late renewal penalties. The CE provider may take up to 30 days to upload your credits.

Exemptions: CE exemptions include producers who hold Credit, Pet or Travel, or Surplus Lines. Business entities and non-resident producers are also exempt.

FAQs

Licenses in Idaho require renewal and completion of CE every 2 years on the last day of the licensee’s birth month.  

Late renewals are possible for up to one year after paying a late fee of $120, plus a Late CE Fee (if applicable). After one year, the licensee must reapply as a new applicant.
