New applicants must meet Washington’s eligibility standards, including age, residency, and background requirements.

Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years old.

Yes, you must have either a SSN (Social Security Number) or a FEIN (Federal Employer Identification Number).

Reinstatement Fee  $165 full lines (up to 365 days) / $60 limited lines: credit, surety or travel (up to 365 days) 
Fingerprinting Fee  $49 
Washington License Exam Fee  $35 (Property OR Casualty) / $52 (Property and Casualty Producer Combo)  

Exemptions: Military veterans who qualify may receive reimbursement for insurance exam fees through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Continuing Education (CE) in Washington

CE requirements for insurance producers include:  

  • 24 hours (3 hours in ethics)

Deadline: Complete CE by the end of the birth month following the second license anniversary and biennially thereafter. CE must be completed before submitting a renewal application.

FAQs

Licenses  require renewal and completion of CE every 2 years. Renew your license anytime from 90 days before the expiration date (the last day of the licensee’s birth month).

If a licensee fails to complete CE requirements, a licensee has a 60day grace period to complete a late renewal after fulfilling CE requirements and paying a late renewal fee. From 61 days to one year, the licensee can reinstate the license for an additional fee.
