Insurance Pre-licensing and Continuing Education (CE) in Georgia
CE requirements include:
- 24 hours (3 hours in ethics) for agents with less than 20 years of service.
- 20 hours (3 hours in ethics) for agents with more than 20 years of service.
- 12 hours (3 hours in ethics) for CPCU, CLU, FLMI, CIC, Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), ChFC, Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI), and Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
- 10 hours of self-study for credit insurance only.

When do I need to renew my Georgia insurance license?
Licenses require renewal and completion of CE every two years. Renew your license anytime from 90 days before the expiration date.
What if I miss the Georgia insurance license renewal deadline?
If a licensee fails to complete CE requirements a licensee has a 15-day grace period to complete a late renewal after fulfilling CE requirements and paying a late renewal fee ($15). After this time, the license can be reinstated within one year. After one year, the licensee must apply as a new applicant.
