Iowa 2025 Carrier Appointment Renewals: Key Dates and Fee Changes
Get ready for the Iowa 2025 Carrier Appointment Renewal period from January 6 to March 17, 2025. Avoid terminations by staying on top of deadlines and Iowa’s unique retaliatory fee structure.
Appointment Renewal Invoice:
Renewal invoices for Insurance Producers are available January 6, 2025 at 8:00 am CT through March 17, 20205 at 4:00 pm CT via the NIPR website. If the appointment renewal invoice is not paid by the deadline, all associated appointments will be terminated. The company will then need to submit new appointment requests for each producer they wish to appoint.
Processing Appointment Terminations:
Appointment termination requests must be submitted by December 27, 2024, for requested appointments to not be on the renewal invoice. Appointments after December 27th will not be included on the 2025 renewal invoice. You will need to verify that they are still in-force after the March 17, 2025, closing date.
Fee Structure:
Iowa charges a retaliatory renewal fee based on the appointer’s state of domicile rather than LOA (fee schedule listed below). NIPR processing fees are also applied at one percent of the total state fee, with a minimum of $5 and a maximum of $1,000.

Takeaways
NIPR electronic processing is mandatory, as continuation invoices can’t be paid directly to the Iowa Department of Insurance or any NIPR Reseller Gateway. Once invoice lists are generated, appointments on that list can no longer be terminated. Payments made through NIPR are immediate and are non-refundable. If invoices are unpaid by the deadline, appointments will be terminated, requiring new requests for reappointment. For appointment disputes, contact the Iowa Department of Insurance with documentation.
It is very important to stay on top of all dates listed above to ensure continued compliance in the state of Iowa. For questions, contact the Iowa Insurance Division or visit their website at: Regulated Individuals | Iowa Insurance Division
